Subject: Dewey for early maps?

Dear list,
Are Dewey classification codes useful for early maps ("historic" or
antiquarian maps)? Does anyone use them? Or is it sufficient with
subject headings and TGM codes?

My former library, the National library of Sweden, has switched to
Dewey, and now my former colleagues are wondering if they should use
it also.

Kind regards
