Here is a map by the Geological Survey of Canada (GSC) from 1890 -

I did a quick keyword search for Kootenay in GEOSCAN, the earth sciences
publications database of Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) -

Using the Advanced Search, one can also do a geospatial search for other
maps in the same area but that do not necessarily mention the word
"Kootenay".
GEOSCAN is a product of the NRCan Library and can be used to locate GSC
geoscientific maps as well as Canadian topographic maps.

Hi-
We have a patron would is looking for older maps (pre-1893) of Kootenay,
BC, showing either Howser Creek or Howser Lake. Anyone have ideas or
have something in their collection that might help him? He says he's
been to just about every map library in Canada, but I don't know if he
asked a librarian for help or just poked around himself. Tim or Tom, do
you remember working with this patron?
