         CERCO (A)

CERCO consisted in September 1993 of the directors of 31 national
mapping agencies of western and central Europe (European Union,
Efta and former eastern-bloc countries). 17 of them signed on 15
June 1993 a Memorandum of Understanding in Helsinki to develop
the following:

- a directory containing information about all the geographic
data available in Europe

- a database containing the boundaries of all administrative
areas (down to ward or commune level or equivalent) in Europe

- specifications for future common geographical information
sources

You can contact them through any of its directors, e.g. Ordnance
Survey, Institut Geographique National (Belgium, France, Spain,
Portugal), Institut fur Angewnadte Geodaesie (Germany) etc.
