Susan,

I would add that if you are interested in becoming a map librarian, go
to a library school at a university that has a large, working map
collection, and get a job as a student worker in that collection. I
learned more in my 1 year working a few hours a week with Karl and
Jerry than I did in library school.

I'd recommend my school, U. Michigan, except they no longer have a
"library" school (tell me HOW a food policy or how to deal with a
leaky roof fits into "information"). Sorry, gotta rant now and then.

I further suggest that if you want to become a map librarian, attend
professional meetings (WAML is in Denver in a month) and get to know
people. We're a fun bunch!!
