Mary Murphy at 100 and the Evolution of Map Cataloging

A special event at the 108th Annual Conference

Special Libraries Association

June 18, 2017, 7:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Phoenix, Arizona.

Come help us celebrate Mary Murphy’s 100 birthday and hear about her life, career, and the changes in map cataloging from her early times with the Army Map Service until today’s digital age.

Speakers will be her two nephews, geography professors Dr. Alec Murphy, University of Oregon and Dr. Fred Shelley, University of Oklahoma. In addition, one of Dr. Murphy’s former graduate students, Jon Jablonski, Spatial Data Librarian, UC Santa Barbara, will talk about the evolution of map cataloging.

There will be birthday cake and refreshments following the talks!

This is a ticketed event, under new guidelines from SLA. There is a charge of $15.00 for those registered for the Annual Conference, to cover refreshments and AV expenses. Event will be held at the conference headquarters hotel Sheraton Grand Phoenix. For more information contact:
