Subject: Ask USGS Web Pages

Folks:

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has now released the ask.usgs.gov Web
site. This Web site, which is part of the "Ask-USGS" information delivery
strategy, replaces the previous public Earth Science Information Center
(ESIC) Web pages. It provides data on the natural sciences. The topics of
biology, hydrology, geology, and mapping are included under the following
categories.

Who Are We -- A definition of the USGS and its mission

Spotlight -- News, events, and features of the USGS

Questions -- Frequently asked questions that pertain to biology, hydrology,
geology, and mapping; contact information

Sources of Information -- USGS resources, such as Information Specialists,
ESIC's, Libraries, and State Representatives

Maps and Other Products -- Maps, aerial photographs, digital data,
satellite imagery, publications, new products, software, and real-time data

Educational Resources -- Educational materials

Online Information -- Internet links to natural science information

The two attached Microsoft Word files concerning the Ask-USGS Web pages are
for your information and use. One document can be used as a bookmark, and
the other document can be used as a flyer.

The "Ask-USGS" information delivery strategy components are listed below.
