To me the most hilarious map I've yet seen is the NatLamp Map of the World, issued as a supplement to a National Lampoon compendium from the 1970s. The base map is a typical Rand McNally Mercator (that nefarious projection!) political coverage with no other features. The crew at NatLamp then peppered the globe with their own drolleries: 'Ross Ice Tray' in Antarctica, 'Dimming' in the UK, 'Lottapoor' in India, 'Dacron' in Ohio, etc. etc.
Every stereotype is blatantly displayed, and in the process, mocked.
Definitely politically incorrect, a tad disgusting in places, but as a whole, irresistibly funny.
