The National Archives, the UK government's official archive, holds 900
years of history, from the Domesday Book through to web pages. It has
one of the largest and most important holdings of maps, plans and
architectural drawings in the world.

Do you have a lively interest in working with and researching into
cartographic materials, and experience of work in an archives or similar
environment? If so, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join a small
specialist team, to develop and share knowledge of these maps.

You will undertake a wide range of cataloguing tasks, and supervise
non-specialist staff on placements with the team. You will communicate
information about maps by writing guides and giving talks. You will also
contribute about 10 hours a week to our enquiry and advice services.

This post requires a high level of editorial skills, together with a
wide cartographic knowledge and broad awareness of the range of our
archives. Excellent communication skills are essential, preferably
including at least one European language (in addition to English).

Starting salary: £22,525* ***

+/ excellent benefits including generous pension scheme, leave allowance
