Dear colleagues:

The *ALCTS-**CaMMS Recruitment and Mentoring Committee
<http://www.ala.org/alcts/mgrps/camms/cmtes/ats-ccsrecment>* is seeking
volunteers to contribute profiles for an ongoing project.

The committee is creating an online resource that will contain career
profiles of individuals working in the field of cataloging and metadata.
Profiles will include general information such as name and title, as well
as your responses to several open-ended questions. An optional photograph
may also be submitted. Profiles will be publicly posted on the ALCTS
website to serve as a resource for those considering careers in cataloging
and metadata.

Through these profiles, we hope to demonstrate the wide range of
professional opportunities available in cataloging and metadata. An ideal
resource will have as much variety as possible while remaining within the
scope of the field. The list of profiles might include a music cataloger, a
metadata specialist, a technical services manager, a rare books cataloger,
or a professor of library and information science, among many other
possibilities. Ideally, profile volunteers will represent various types of
libraries, as well as other organizations where careers in cataloging and
metadata are possible (such as museums or library services vendors).

We hope to create a representative set of profiles that reflect the
personal, real-world career experiences of a diverse group of cataloging
and metadata professionals, especially those from backgrounds which have
been historically underrepresented in librarianship. Our goal is to offer
practical information and advice to those entering or considering the
field.

We hope you will consider participating! If you are interested, please
contact us at [log in to unmask] with a few short sentences about
yourself and your job by May 15th, 2017. Unfortunately, *we cannot
guarantee that we will be able to send a survey to all who express
interest.* We will make the selections considering both the order they are
received, and the extent in which the response adds to the diversity of the
profiles*.* If you are selected, we will send you a copy of the short
questionnaire. Before publishing your responses online, we will be sure to
contact you in advance to confirm that you are still willing to be featured.

Sincerely,

CaMMS Recruitment and Mentoring Committee
