Dear Maps-L community:

This is to confirm that we indeed did acquire Omni Resource's assets. It was a big step both for Russell and for us. As of today, the last pallet of publications was transferred from North Carolina. The four semis required to transfer everything (much more than we ever imagined) finished unloading last Friday. We are currently inventorying the hundreds of thousands of items received-both scientific and trade maps and atlases and related books, and more-and merging them in our systems. The traditional Omni website is working fine and we are concentrating on fulfilling the orders and inquiries as fast as humanly possible. So far, so good, I think, and Russell has been incredibly helpful and patient with our team in making the transition.

We can already say that the Omni collection is filled with a lot of interesting gems, many of which seem to be found nowhere on the website, and we look forward to letting folks know about these in the coming weeks and months. A lot of publications could live a very happy life in a digital form, and we have already started working with some publishers to make this happen. In general, our plans are to keep all of the Omni product lines open-including naturally the scientific and trade paper maps. We are even keeping the raised relief maps available-another of Russell's fascinating legacies!

At least two of us will be at MAGIRT this weekend and we hope to see as many of you as possible and answer whatever questions you may have.

Best in the meantime,

Kent

Subject: After 37 years, Russell Guy is retiring from Omnimap

A huge congratulations to Russell on his retirement! This is certainly the end of an era for the map community.

From a December 19, 2018 Facebook post:

After nearly 37 years of supplying maps to the world, I am retiring.

Thank you to all of the customers that have supported Omni through the years. You are the heart of any
business and I will miss working with you. Finding maps of unusual locations for customers has kept the
job fun and challenging. Hunting out new maps has taken me to places that I would never have gone to
otherwise.

I have sold Omnimap to Eastview Information Services, located in Minneapolis. They will maintain the
Omnimap website and fulfill orders from the site. The Omni phone numbers and e-mails have been switched
to Eastview. I can be reached via FB messenger.

Thank you,
Russell Guy

Best of luck to you Russell in all that you do next! Thanks Eastview for keeping the maps available!
