Reference/Government Documents Librarian

Killam Library at Texas A&M International University, a new library
(est. 1995) located on the Texas/Mexico border, seeks a librarian to
fill a tenure-track position which reports to the Head of Public Services.

*Responsibilities**:* Manages federal (32%) and Texas state documents
depositories and geographic information systems (GIS) services;
participates in reference desk service, collection development, web
development and maintenance and bibliographic instruction.  Supervises
one student employee and two paraprofessionals.  All librarians
participate in library and university governance as faculty members.

*Required Qualifications:* ALA-MLS or equivalent.  Good communication
skills in public contacts and presentations.  Knowledge of current
research methods in academic libraries, including print and electronic
reference sources.  Ability to manage responsibilities and maintain
effective working relationships.

*Preferred Qualifications:* Reference or public service experience in an
academic library.   Experience with government documents and/or
government information sources.  Familiarity with GIS systems.
Experience in group and individual instruction.  Facility in Spanish.

*Salary and Benefits:* Depending on experience and qualifications,
salary commensurate with experience.  Benefits include a choice of
retirement programs, choice of health benefit plans, as well as State
vacation and holidays.
