Special thanks to all those who provided information on the Hughes map.  And, thanks to the AGS Library, which has the map, and for providing access to the map.  The researcher, an archaeologist with our Natural History Museum, was most impressed with the Maps-L resource and response.  He has spent over a month searching before deciding to ask.  You (Y'all) are a special group.
