I continue to muster on with my Indexes for Map Sets project.  For those unfamiliar with it, I have been using ArcGIS to create indexes to non-US sets of maps (mostly topographic).  I have placed copies these indexes on our Esri cloud site and made them available for anyone to download for free.

Besides adding the basic data to the indexes (sheet number, name, date), when possible, I have been adding links to scans of the paper maps.  These scans were done and hosted by a variety of organizations including universities (most noteworthy, University of Texas Austin, University of Florida, and Texas Tech University), organizations, and companies.

I have put together 2 websites (maps segregated by scale) that show the footprints of the maps, and links to the scans.  These websites do NOT have my school’s branding on them.  Thus you can link to them via your organization’s web site.

As of November 11, 2015, I have made indexes to the following 293 paper map sets.  I have concentrated almost exclusively on non-US sets.  I have completed ALL of sets of maps of Africa that we own (with a few exceptions).

In addition, I have taken copies of these indexes, populating them with our holdings information and links to our catalog and mashed them up into a 2 websites.  Using copies of these indexes, YOU can do this too.  I would be very happy to teach anyone how to download the indexes, add information, and make your own website.
