Subject: [carto-soc] RE: International Cartographic Exhibition, ICC 2019, Tokyo, July 15th – 20th - call for UK contributions - REMINDER

REMINDER

The International Cartographic Association (ICA) meets for its 29th International Cartographic Conference in Tokyo in July. As part of the conference there will be an exhibition of cartographic products from around the world. For the UK contribution to the exhibition you are invited to submit examples of cartographic products prepared or published since March 2017. Entries are invited in 7 categories: printed maps; charts; atlases; digital products; digital services; educational cartographic products; and other cartographic products (including globes, tactile maps, etc). More information is available at: http://www.icc2019.org/cartographic_exhibition.html .

For ALL entries, you must supply an image of the product (jpeg or tiff) with a minimum resolution of 300dpi. For maps this should be the full image or a suitable extract; for atlases this should be the cover; for digital products & services this could be a screenshot; for education products it should be appropriate, as above; for other products it should be a picture. These will be used for the illustrated exhibition catalogue and, following recent practice, UK entries will feature in The Cartographic Journal.

Details of each entry as set out below, must be submitted as a word or text document. The description and image files should be sent to David Forrest by Friday 19th April 2019. Please send this to [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> . For very large image files a file transfer systems should be used with the link sent to the e-mail above.

For hard copy items please provide two copies. One copy will be displayed in the International Map Exhibition in Tokyo. The other copy may be exhibited at future BCS events and will be added to the BCS collection held in Bodleian library. Please send these to arrive no later than Friday 19th April to:

For digital items:

1. Please create a video of 2−4 minutes in length. This video should describe the product, provide a visual tour of its features and functionality, and if possible, include a URL link at the end for viewers to link to the actual product. An audio component is encouraged although not required.

2. Post this video to a URL which will navigate a viewer directly to your demo video. These URL's will then be accessible at the conference via YouTube or Vimeo.

3. Create an A3-size (297 mm x 420 mm) poster for your product as a PDF. The poster should include the title, authors, a screenshot, and the video URL. In addition, a QR code pointing to your video URL is highly recommended.

If the number of submissions exceeds our allocated display space the UKCC will select the most representative entries from those submitted.

By submitting an entry, appropriate use the product is granted to ICA and BCS for exhibition and archiving.

If you have any questions regarding any aspects of this invitation please contact me by e-mail or on 0141 330 5401. Meanwhile, I look forward to receiving your contributions.
