Job Overview:

We are currently looking for a dynamic and dedicated individual to lead our operations as Director. This role requires a deep appreciation and understanding of history, geography, and art history. The successful applicant will have significant responsibility over buying and selling our unique inventory, client and vendor interaction, overseeing the entire transactional process, and managing our attendance at domestic and international antiquarian book and map fairs.


Responsibilities:

*  Lead and manage all aspects of the buying and selling process of antique maps, atlases, and other works on paper.

*  Forge strong relationships with clients and vendors, providing exceptional customer service and upholding the reputation of the firm.

*  Oversee the firm's participation in international antiquarian book and map fairs, including logistics, display, and customer interaction.

*  Travel domestically and internationally to meet clients, vendors, and attend industry events.

*  Conduct and oversee rigorous research on various historical objects, interpreting and communicating complex historical concepts and ideas.

*  Write engaging and compelling descriptions of our inventory.

Qualifications:

*  Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in History, Art History, Geography, or a related field.

*  Demonstrated passion and knowledge in history, geography, and art history.

*  Proven experience in customer service and relationship building.

*  Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

*  Strong research abilities and experience with complex historical objects and ideas.

*  Flexibility to travel internationally for business needs.

*  Commercial acumen, with a strong sense of integrity and ethics.

*  Fluency in French is strongly preferred; proficiency in German, Italian, Dutch, or Arabic is considered a valuable asset.
