At the University of Chicago Map Collection older topos are as
likely to be used as newer ones--well, almost as likely. After
all, newer ones are pretty easy to come by (if you include the
blurry versions on the Web), while superseded sheets are not
always so easy to find and contain information unavailable in
any other form. I hope it doesn't sound too cranky or pretentious
if I say I'm surprised to hear that some research libraries are
getting rid of them ...
