Ken,

My 2 cents.

It's my understanding that the content is duplicated in the GEOnet names
server (http://earth-info.nga.mil/gns/html/). It's not the best designed
database, but functional. It's also a freely available government website.
I would withdraw or remote storage the gazetteers if you have that option.
You might want to keep the print available for a specific area if you have
heavy use of the topos in that region as a "just in case" we lose access to
the government website.

The Marriott Library is currently discarding or redistributing lots of
decades-old government documents. Among the candidates for withdrawal a
number of older gazetteers published by the "War Department, Army Map
Service, and later by Defense Mapping Agency. I can't say I've used any of
them for a long while, so I'm amenable to their withdrawal, but I thought
I'd check with colleagues on whether there's still a reason to keep them
around. Any comments?
