The description doesn't specifically say GIS skills ... but I can only
imagine they must use some kind of geospatial data ...

*Science Librarian / SEAL Instruction Coordinator*
The Temple University Libraries seek a user-oriented and innovative
librarian to join the staff of its Science, Engineering and Architecture
Library (SEAL). SEAL is located on the main campus of Temple, a vibrant,
urban research university with over 1,700 full-time faculty and a student
body of 36,000 that was recently ranked most diverse in the nation.

The librarian will provide high-level research and instructional
services to students and faculty in the sciences, engineering and
architecture and serve as coordinator of SEAL’s instructional program
and its integration into the Libraries’ information literacy initiative.
Reporting to the head of SEAL, the individual will plan, coordinate, and
evaluate SEAL’s instruction and
information literacy initiatives in consultation with other teaching
librarians and a library instruction coordinator; work collaboratively
with faculty to assist with research
and with designing effective library research assignments; produce
web-based research guides and tutorials; and serve as liaison to three
or more science departments. The
individual will select materials in print and electronic format, and
provide instruction and a full range of multi-disciplinary reference and
consultative services in the library, virtually, and in some academic
departments. The librarian will participate in library-wide projects and
activities and is expected to be active professionally. The librarian
may supervise student assistants or other staff, and will participate as
scheduled in shared evening and weekend service hours.

Requires an ALA-accredited MLS and a minimum of 3 years of post-MLS
experience providing science reference and instructional services in an
academic setting. Experience in
developing and delivering instruction programs and in developing and
managing science-related collections in all formats is also required.
Strongly prefer an undergraduate chemistry or other science/engineering
degree and/or relevant experience in one of the science disciplines.

Competitive salary and benefits package, including relocation expenses.
Librarian rank and compensation will be commensurate with qualifications
and experience.
Application: For fullest consideration, apply by December 3, 2007.
