I can't resist sharing the news that University of Chicago Map Collection staff members have put up a new page of scanned maps, this one focusing on 19th-century maps of the Middle East, North Africa, and Central Asia. The URL is

http://www.lib.uchicago.edu/e/su/maps/middleeast19

. Like the Central Europe page from last fall (at http://www.lib.uchicago.edu/e/su/maps/centraleurope18), the page differs from earlier Map Collection compilations of scanned maps* in that it provides access to more than 100 sheets (177, I think). But we've gone back to providing Zoomify as well as Luna access; some comments on the Central Europe page suggested that Zoomify was missed.

Many people helped put together this page--see the penultimate paragraph.

Comments are welcome.

Best,

Chris Winters
