Not about Stamps, but about CD ROMs. I just got back from a huge Multimedia
show in San Jose, where I got to talk to a very nice lady from 3M who assured
me that with proper care, 3M expects CD ROMs to last upwards of 100 years.
Interestingly enough, one of the principle barriers to long life is the
printed matter opposite the data. It seems the inks can migrate in the
plastic and attacked the metal surface. There is also lots of info available
about how to measure CD ROM decay. But they are pretty near forever (about
as good as acid free paper, I would guess).
