This just came over the wires from the International Map Trade Assn
(http://www.maptrade.org). Thought you all would like to know. Our
condolences to Mr Aviel's family and colleagues.

The map trade will be horrified to learn of the tragic death of Ron Aviel,
Head of the Survey of Israel, the Israeli government surveying and mapping
agency. Mr. Ron Aviel was dining with his family at a restaurant in Haifa
when he became a victim of a suicide bomber. The attack, that took place at
the height of the Passover Holiday on the 31 March, also killed his son and
his daughter and 11 other people. Aviel's wife was injured in the attack.
Ron Aviel was 54 years old.
