Hi -

When the National Geologic Map Database (NGMDB) began in 1995, the USGS Library was a principal collaborator. The Library helped us define our database structure and assisted with content development.

I'm now faced with the challenge of enhancing the NGDMB's Trusted Digital Repository, to develop workflows and procedures to accept, manage, and disseminate a complex array of vector-based content. Expertise in managing both bibliographic and GIS content, and in relational databases and programming, would be necessary. I know we'd benefit by hiring someone with training in Data Stewardship, and with experience with geoscience maps and data. For various reasons, the most pragmatic approach for me would be to hire under contract or what's referred to as "Pathways Recent Graduate". Therefore (and I'm sorry to impose if this question is off-base), I was hoping you might care to offer guidance, such as skills that I might specify in a job description that highlights Library training, specifically in data stewardship of content including GIS data.

Regards.
