I had a sneaky suspicion that that was what the question was about!
Just so everyone on this list is aware (and Susan Moore and I will be
sharing this with U.S. folk at the upcoming (Jan. 24-28) ALA Midwinter
meeting in Philadelphia), the forthcoming book /RDA and Cartographic
Resources/ does not yet have a firm publication date, but we (myself,
and my two co-authors, Mary Larsgaard and Susan Moore) are very hopeful
that it will be available in time for the late-June 2014 ALA Annual
Conference.
We turned in a complete manuscript at our publisher's deadline of Jan.
6, 2014, so we've done our part. But! That's just clearing a major
hurdle, its not anywhere near ready for publication. Therefore, we three
will continue to work with ALA Editions staff on forthcoming production
steps, hoping that the bumps in the road that are inevitable are small
ones. We're just as anxious to get this project done and a book into
everyone's hands as you are! And when we know -- and have permission
from the publisher -- we will be sure to send out a publication date to
this list, MAPS-L, and similar ones.
As for any persons or groups in Canada working on sets of guidelines or
similar related to using RDA for cataloging, that I do not know, though
perhaps there are folks in ACMLA? Besides the above book, here in the
U.S. members of the Map and Geospatial Round Table's (ALA) Cataloging
and Classification Committee (chaired by Susan Moore) are working on a
set of "RDA best practices for cartographic resources" guidelines though
we have not gotten past the identification and collecting of
information/opinions stage. The MAGIRT CCC is meeting at ALA Midwinter
on Sunday, Jan. 26th and I fully expect a clear set of organizing and
work plans to come out of that meeting (as I am a member, I'll be
pushing to take our current work to the next level).
Other than that, for contemporary carto materials, you'll need to turn
to those of us who've been using RDA in our cataloging for the past
couple of years for any questions or guidance. That would include
myself, Susan Moore (Univ. of Northern Iowa), Chris Winters (Univ. of
Chicago), Marc McGee (Harvard), Louise Ratliffe (UCLA), Beth Cox
(Southern Illinois Univ.) and the folks at the Library of Congress
Geography & Map Division (they can be reached using the email address
of: [log in to unmask] <mailto:[log in to unmask]>). I'm sure I left a few
others out of this list that I am either not remembering or not aware of
-- my apologies!

Hello from the Map Room at the QEII Library, I am also looking forward

Thanks

Hello M. Andrew,

You interpreted well my question.

In fact, I was curious to see if anybody in our national library or
other ministry, or canadian map libraries was working on guidelines for
the implementation of RDA.

Thank you for your help offer.

We are impatient to get your book ;-)

Catherine,

My French reading skills are very rough, but I believe you are asking
for assistance in finding good practical guides to applying RDA in
cartographic resources cataloging? Let me know if I'm interpreting your
note correctly please, I might be able to help.

Sincerely,

Paige Andrew

Bonjour,

J’aimerais savoir si des guides de bonnes pratiques pour l’application
des RDA au matériel cartographique sont actuellement en rédaction soit
par des organismes nationaux ou par le « Bibliographic Control
Committee » de l’ACMLA.

Merci,
