     Dearest mapsters,

Someone just sent me a clipping, perhaps from the Wall Street
Journal? about two exhibits which probably include maps, and even if
not, would probably inform any of us anyway!

Mint Museum of Art, Charlotte, NC
Unseen Treasures: Imperial Russian and the New World

This exhibition tells the story of Russian exploration and
colonization in North America...The Russian State Historical Museum
and the State Archive of the Russian Federation have lent more than
     300 items for this exhibition...

I hope to see this Thanksgiving weekend, by delaying my layover in
Charlotte, so I am glad for my colleague here having sent this to me.

Sunday 12-5, Closed Mondays, Tues-Fri 10-5 [I think, check their
website for hours and ticket prices. Looks like one might have to
     reserve tickets.] www.mintmuseum.org

     Anchorage, Alaska
Anchorage Museum of History and Art thru Oct 22
Science under Sail: Russia's great voyages to America, 1741-1867.

During this period Russian sentmore thant 225 expeditions to the
northern region, 40 of them went on to circumnavigating the
globe...well, who knew? Wasn't in my history books.
