Indexing and retrieval software

Dear Colleagues,
 
Does anyone use or have knowledge of a good indexing and retrieval
software for map catalogue records?  I am new to map librarianship and
need to learn quickly.  I have 36,000ish maps.  The University of
Greenwich uses TALIS for retrieval of its catalogue.   It is pretty awful
for maps!
