Subject: RGS-IBG Map Room : temporary re-opening
Sender: Francis Herbert <[log in to unmask]>

The August 2001 'Newsletter' of this Society reports that, following delays
to the construction programme, the Library and the Map Room will re-open for
Fellows and Members for reference purposes only from 11 am to 5 pm on
Mondays to Fridays from 10 September until Christmas in the first instance.

Work relating to the retro-conversion elements of the programme will
continue during this period and, as a result, the services will be limited.
Staff will be required to operate this partial restoration of access under
restricted conditions. Certain areas of the Library and the Map Room are
likely to be inaccessible for some or all of the period, as are certain
parts of the catalogues. Since it will also be difficult to ensure that the
telephones are continuously staffed Fellows and Members are advised to make
enquiries by post, fax, or e-mail.

The Picture Library and the Archives sections of the Collections continue to
operate - by prior appointment as usual. Please see website (under
'Collections') for usual information.
