These are fun aren't they?

I can't answer deeper at present, but the A, C, E, etc. letters in the
SuDoc no. pertain to a grid that is laid out. If you see an index to these,
you will see that the grid starts with a larger set of "blocks" with the
letters repeating within each block.

As long as you have an established SuDoc no. for your map, you don't need
to worry. If you don't have, and can't find the full number and need to
determine it, then you will need to look at the map, along with the grid
(which is the best way) to derive the correct letter to use (as well as the
following number, e.g, A 1, C 3).

If I have a chance, I will add more details and explanation. I did dozens
of maps from various series and set up the grids to make this easier to
determine each time.
