Carlos,

Yes, here at the University of Kentucky we collect and catalog state
road maps and National Geographic maps. We retain all road maps for our
state, every 5 years for surrounding states, and every 10 years for
other states. They don't get much use, but I anticipate they will
become more valuable as the years pass and researchers want to study
migration, travel, spread of disease, etc. and they can't find the old
maps online. I even recall using old road maps to help a novelist
determine the route that her character could have traveled across
country in the 1950's.

One of the types of maps that we have collected over the years are AAA
maps, National Geographic maps, state maps published by the state, bike
maps.

I was wondering how many of you collect these types of maps. Do they get
circulated a lot? Do you see any value on having them and retaining
them? Do you catalog them and add them to your online catalog?

Any help you can give me would be most appreciated.
