Subject: RE: Delisle Island,. Thailand

The 1966 Gazetteer of Thailand prepared in the Office of Geography, Dept
of the Interior, Washington D.C. gives the following coordinates for
Phayam, Ko: North 9 deg 44min / East 98 deg 25min.

For Delisle Island it says: see Phayam, Ko
For both Koh Piam and Goh Piam it also says: see Phayam, Ko

The ONC-K9 (7th edition) also locates it at these same coordinates.

This would suggest names relate to one island and that it is located NW
of Kapoe.

The entry in the GEOnet Names Server I posted yesterday lists Piam, Koh,
Piam, Goh & Delisle Island as well as a few others as variants for
Payam, Ko, so I think it's safe to assume they're all referring to the
same place.

Another map pointed out to me, British OS, 1:4M, 1926, confirms along
with Francis' info that Ko Phayam is the island formerly known as
Delisle Goh and Koh are different romanisations of the Thai word today
written Ko or Koh, meaning Island.
So Francis' two references are to the same island (possibly split over
two sheets, hence the different lat/longs?)

Thank you for the help!
