The department's librarians represent the interests of schools and colleges in developing dynamic library collections and services to advance the success of the University community. Four functional teams within DRS (Collections, Research Impact, Subject Instruction, and Digital & Open Scholarship) collaborate to emphasize collections, services, and programming within their areas of focus and among their constituencies.

This position resides in the Collections Team, comprised of four librarians. Within this structure, the team develops initiatives to build, evaluate, and promote collections in all formats through:

· Understanding user needs by soliciting and reviewing collections-related feedback and suggestions
· Evaluating collections, incorporating information about user needs and participating in assessment activities
· Contributing to the Libraries’ collections infrastructure by documenting workflows, providing collections mentorship and participating in and planning professional development and training opportunities

In addition to team efforts, the Collection Development and Analysis Librarian will provide broad-based budgetary management, review, evaluate, and negotiate for significant resources that support the University’s goals. This individual will be expected to consult with colleagues within the collections team, the department, and the libraries to understand the needs and the goals of the University. The individual will also work closely with the Collections Lead Librarian, the Associate Dean for Research Excellence, and the Head of Collections and Research Services to develop over all strategies for meeting the information needs of the University.

The structure and wide range of professional and subject expertise within the Department of Research and Scholarship will provide an engaging professional community. Department librarians will support the Collection Development and Analysis Librarian’s work through collaboration, relationship building, and peer mentorship, and the Libraries provide many opportunities for professional development and work-life balance.
