> The Piri Re'is map's depiction of the Americas is not in doubt.

The alleged correspondence of the Piri Re'is coastline to the real
coastline of South America is dubious. It's been a while since I read
the book, but I recall being asked to believe that maps of different
scales with some gaps between them had been pieced together, and even
so it didn't match very well. I found it hard to believe. Look at the
details in the book and judge for yourself.
