Rare Map & Atlas Cataloger, Arader Galleries

Description & Qualifications
Arader Galleries is seeking an experienced cataloger of historically important maps, travel and discovery books and atlases from the 15th to 19th century.  Responsibilities are focused on entering descriptions and photographs on ABE, Biblio, Alibris, the Arader Galleries Web site and the Rare Book Hub.  Collection includes over 10,000 maps and 1000 important atlases. The position requires attention to detail regarding the inventorying and cataloging of rare materials as well as experience working with cartobibliographic information to identify and produce written descriptions of rare materials. All rare works have inventory code and need to be filed with accuracy. The position works on-site at Arader Galleries, 29 east 72nd, NY, NY.

Salary & Benefits
2% ownership (while still employed) for all maps and atlases is offered as a bonus in this position.  Other commissions up to 6% offered for sales made.  Salary in range of $48,000 to $80,000 a year depending on experience.
