The National Forest Service Library (NFSL) will be advertising for a librarian position. NFSL provides scientific and technical information services to the 35,000 employees of the USDA Forest Service. The National Library program is comprised of staff at a main library in Fort Collins, CO, and two branches in Madison, WI and San Juan, Puerto Rico. The collections have more than 500,000 items in a wide range of disciplines including natural resources, forestry, entomology, wildlife biology, botany, zoology, social sciences, recreation, archaeology, hydrology, and engineering.

The duty station will be the Rocky Mountain Research Station, Fort Collins, CO.

The Librarian position’s major duties include:
1. Responding to research and reference inquires using the NFSL’s print collections, journals, and databases.
2. Providing scientific and technical literature searches that require a broad knowledge of natural resources and related disciplines.
3. Assisting Forest Service staff using NFSL resources and services.
4. Evaluating collection strengths and needs. Recommend additions to the Library’s print collections, digital repository, journals, databases, and monthly alerting service.
5. Preparing brochures and exhibits that promote the Library.

Rocky Mountain Research Station:
The Rocky Mountain Research Station (RMRS) is one of seven field units that comprise the Research and Development branch of the USDA Forest Service. R&D is unique in its ability to provide independent, management-focused science and long-term data for the natural resource questions of today and tomorrow. While RMRS is rooted in the geography of the Interior West, our work is global in scope. RMRS operates 14 laboratories and 14 Experimental Forest and Ranges.
