Dear Colleagues,

In Spring 2019, Arizona State University (Tempe, Arizona) will host a two-day conference dedicated to the cartography of the greater Grand Canyon region.

Mapping Grand Canyon Conference
Thursday, February 28 - Friday, March 1, 2019<https://lib.asu.edu/mapping-grand-canyon-conference>

The conference aligns with two important milestones in Grand Canyon history:

(1) the centennial (1919-2019) of Grand Canyon National Park, and

(2) the sesquicentennial (1869-2019) of John Wesley Powell's first expedition through the Colorado River, which, of course, carved the Grand Canyon.

The conference promises a full two-day program of map-based story-telling, transdisciplinary analysis, demonstrations of state-of-the-art geospatial and cartographic techniques, and engaging hands-on activities.

Importantly, this event will be free and open to the public - a reality made possible through the generosity of our existing Mapping Grand Canyon Conference Partners<https://lib.asu.edu/mapping-grand-canyon-conference/partners>.

The weather's gorgeous here in Arizona that time of year, and there's no better time to celebrate the cartographic history of the greater Grand Canyon region!

Hoping to see you there!
Matt
