Hi, Kathleen,

How KEWL!!! Do already have your choices in mind because you might want to
consider the following:

a. Madama Butterfly - certainly the Navy ought to be able to point you to
charts covering that
b. John Adams (I think) - Nixon in China - clearly an opportunity for
aeronautical charts
c. Puccini - Turandot - China in an earlier era
d. Bizet - Carmen
e. Then, of course, there are all the kings and queens (QEI, Mary
QofScots, Lear, Henry VIII, and on and on)

Then, for non-opera, but still musical things:
a. Porgy and Bess
b. April in Paris
c. West Side Story - New York in an earlier era
d. Rent - New York in a much later era
e. A musical of Robin Hood
f. Auntie Mame (the musical, not the play or the movie)

Then, if you ever expand your horizons to a similar exhibit for
non-musicals, obviously plays and movies:
a. Queen Elizabeth (II played by Helen Mirran)
b. The Glass Menangerie
c. Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
d. Allegiance! (this particular story is about Japanese internment camps
during WWII which would fit well with the National Park Services
contemporaneous materials from the various camps; I know one of the
producers of this play and, if you're interested, he may have some good
materials; George Takei played one of the leads)
e. Any Neil Simon play, especially from his time in the WWII Army or from
growing up in Brooklyn.

Good luck with your project, it sounds terrific!
