I'm wondering if the context in which you found "Agrl. Implts." And "Agrl. Imps." might lend itself to these both being abbreviations for Agricultural Implements. It kind of is a catch-all term used for machinery such as plows, discs, cultivators, drills....  Some pulled by tractor, others stand alone/self powered.

Subject: Sanborn Atlas Abbreviations Glossary

Hi all,

I'd like to share with those in the maps-l community who utilize Sanborn Atlases our Glossary of Abbreviations & Obscure Terminology in Sanborn Fire Insurance Atlases (attached). Some of the abbreviations come from the familiar Sanborn Map Abbreviations handout from EDR, but it also includes numerous other abbreviations that our Map Library has been compiling over the years in manuscript format. I finally combined the two lists and made an electronic copy of it, and I'm happy to share widely with the group. I have relied on our manuscript abbreviations list numerous times over the past few years to answer research questions about what certain abbreviations mean. I have always found it helpful, and I hope you and your Sanborn researchers find it helpful as well.
