Dear Map Friends,

Along with many other maps Mexico's topographic products have long been available through World Map Source/Mexico Maps. I am providing this update to let you know that I can supply these items. I’m happy to answer any questions that you may have about them. Please email: [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>

Mexico Topographic Map Scales Available

1:20K
1:50K
1:250K
1:1M
State Map Series

INEGI (the Mexican mapping agency) has been steadily updating these maps and there are over 7,600 new maps produced in the previous five years (2016-2020). The good news is that most of this material is available as a GeoPDF (or PDF). Hard copies are also available if that is your preference. Other digital options are SHP and TIF in most cases.

Breakdown of Map Production by Scale

1:50,000 - 3278 new maps during 2016-2020
As there are only 2296 maps at this scale almost all are new in the previous five years. Some very important maps have been updated more than once which accounts for the large number over the actual number of sheets.

1:250,000 - 121 maps produced in 2020
As there are only 123 titles at this scale the entire series is basically new.

1:1,000,000 - 13 maps at this scale all dated between 2010 and 2020:

Chihuahua 2020

Baja California Sur 2011
Veracruz 2011
Durango 2011

Mexicali 2010
La Paz 2010
Hermosillo 2010
Monterrey 2010
San Luis Potosi 2010
Guadalajara 2010
Mexico 2010
Villahermosa 2010
Merida 2010

Mexico State Map Series - 2012
These maps have hypsometric tinting (colors show elevation).

1:20,000 - over 7,000 maps exist but some are only available as a SHP file. There are other variables in this series as some deviate from what we normally see in a topographic map and veer towards a satellite image.
