Aloha all:

There is an instructor here who is looking for the woodcut map of
India in the 1522 Strasbourg edition of Ptolemy's 'Geography' on
which there is represented a devil burning a woman, which is probably
an allusion to suttee. The map is mentioned on page 65 of Raymond
Lister's 'Old Maps and Globes' (London: Bell and Hyman, 1979).

Does anyone out there know if this map has been reprinted anywhere
and how we could see a copy. Obviously trying to arrange an ILL for
an original is out of the question. Any suggestions will be
appreciated.
