We are in the process of reading AND counting out quads.  I'll let you
know the count when we finish, which will not be soon.  We keep all

I'm not sure of the exact count but we usually use the number 55,000. For an exact number call the USGS
ESIC office at 1-800-USA-MAPS.

In the SLA Geography and Map Division Bulletin number 127, March 1982, page 53,
Charley Seavey published a theoretical USGS Topo Quad Count by State.  The
totals listed for the country are 57,585-7.5 minute quads and for Alaska
3,718-15 minute quads.
