A friend who works at Yale just
sent this on to me.

Position: Catalog Librarian for Maps
Catalog Department

THE UNIVERSITY AND THE LIBRARY
The University Library, which is a highly valued partner in teaching and
research at the University, has more than 12.5 million volumes housed in
the Sterling Memorial Library and 21 school and departmental libraries.
It employs a dynamic and innovative staff of nearly 600 FTE who have the
opportunity to work with the highest caliber of faculty and students,
participate on committees and are involved in other areas of staff
development. A full spectrum of library resources, from rare books and
manuscripts to a rapidly expanding network of electronic resources,
constitutes one of Yale's distinctive strengths. The Library is engaged
in numerous digital initiatives designed to provide access to a full
array of scholarly information. Yale is a member of the Program for
Cooperative Cataloging and contributes to the NACO and BIBCO Programs.

The Yale Map Collection
The Yale Map collection, housed in Sterling Memorial Library, is one of
the country's outstanding collections, holding more than 200,000 sheet
maps and 3,000 atlases, including 11,000 rare maps. While its coverage
is international, the Collection has extraordinary strengths in maps of
North America, particularly the area that is not the United States. The
Collection's interests are both historical and contemporary, print and
non-print, with an established program to enhance its growth and access
through effective acquisitions, cataloging, preservation, security, and
user services.

and development programs, contribute to implementing the mission of the
Library, and keep active professionally.
