Race-based real estate developments in Jefferson County, Colorado - virtual event (a GIS Day event)
https://libguides.mines.edu/jeffcoracism

Subdivisions in Jefferson County, Colorado developed from the late 1910s to the early 1950s, often had covenants that included race-based exclusionary language. The covenants were rules that governed who and who could not own the property within that subdivision. The covenants were legal documents (now voided) that were approved by Jefferson County government officials. An example of this language is: “No persons of any race other than the Caucasian race shall use or occupy any building or any lot.”

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 7 pm Mountain Time
You must register for the event to attend it.

This presentation will highlight my activities identifying subdivisions that were developed with covenants that contained race-based exclusion clauses. I will talk about the project and future activities.

This project was inspired by the Mapping Prejudice project in Minneapolis: https://mappingprejudice.umn.edu/
