What perfect timing. Someone requested a DMA map recently for
interlibrary loan. I couldn't find it so I went online to look for it.
A few of them are online via the Office of Coast Survey, NOAA. Even
though there is a map viewer available, you cannot download them due to
copyright restrictions.

Below is the response I got yesterday when I sent an email as to why
there wasn't a way to download the chart. So, it may actually be
beneficial to retain them since you cannot find comparable maps for
downloading.
BTW, NGA is the current name of what was previously known as NIMA and DMA.

a few NGA charts to be viewed as most of those charts have copyright
restrictions on them. NGA is a totally different agency than NOAA. NOAA
offers its charts as they are in the public domain. NGA must negotiate
contracts with other countries--so many of the charting services will
not allow NGA to display their charts.*/

Hi all:

We are weeding our map collectionsand I need advice on the DMA maps that
we have.

We have about 36 drawers (standardflat map drawers) of DMAmaps. They are
all in good conditions. I am not sure if these maps are federal
depository map or not. I could not find anything from CGP. The maps do
not have depository stamp on it and do not have SuDoc call number on it.

These maps are arranged by series.

Examples printed on the map:
     Series 1301
Sheet SC 36& PT 35
Edition 3-GSGS

Series L500
     Sheet NH 44-7
Edition 1-AMS

Series Q501
Sheet NQ 3, 4-7
Edition 1-AMS

Can anyone tell me these are Federal Depository items? If so, what is
the SuDoc. #

I would like to know the historical value of these maps.

Are they worth keeping? Are they online?

I would rather find them a good home than to withdraw them. Do you know
of any library would like to have them?

Thankyou so much for your help.

Sincerely,
Siu Min
