I notice that all the cataloging copy for the map series being put
out by USGS (and other agencies) entitled "Ecoregions of
[states/regions]" (Pacific Northwest, Tennessee, Indiana and Ohio,
etc.) shows these being cataloged separately and classed with the
regions (the records don't acknowledge that there is any sort of map
series).

Considering that they have a standardized format, a standard form for
the titles, same publisher, etc, and that they really do seem to be
"intended by the producer to form a single group," I was expecting
for a single record for the series to show up (even though the
series title will have to be supplied by the cataloger) with a 3201
in the 052. Will this perhaps happen when the entire country is done,
so a complete 505 field can be made?

Does anyone agree with me that these maps might be more useful if
viewed as a series covering the US and classed together rather than
as separate maps? (Yes, I know that searching an online catalog
almost makes classification unnecessary, and that people will find
anything wherever it is, but I'm old fashioned. :)

thanks, Mark
