All,

Please join us as I talk about "Race-based real estate developments in Jefferson County, Colorado". Inspired by the Mapping Prejudice project in Minneapolis, I have been investigating the history of race-based exclusionary clauses in Jefferson County, Colorado real estate.

Subdivisions in Jefferson County, Colorado developed from the late 1910s to the early 1950s often had covenants that included race-based exclusionary language. The covenants were rules that governed who and who could not own or occupy the properties. The covenants were legal documents (now voided) that were approved by Jefferson County government officials . An example of this language is: “No persons of any race other than the Caucasian race shall use or occupy any building or any lot.”

Wednesday, November 18, 7pm Mountain Time. Please feel free to forward this information. You must register to attend. The event will also be recorded for later viewing.
