Description and duties:

The Opportunity

Working as a member of the Instruction and Reference teams, the 
successful candidate will provide geospatial and statistical data 
resource support services to students, faculty and community users on a 
variety of topics using print and electronic resources, assist with the 
development and instruction of Library users in a classroom setting, 
liaise with faculty for instruction in assigned subject areas such as 
Geography, and carry out other instruction and projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
• An ALA-accredited Master of Library or Information Science degree, or 
acceptable equivalent
• Sound knowledge in the provision of reference service using electronic 
and print resources, especially those produced by Statistics Canada, 
UNdata, PRB, Pew, among others
• Demonstrated knowledge of geospatial software packages, including 
ArcGIS and Google Earth
• Knowledge related to offering classroom-based library instruction and 
acting as a liaison with faculty

Preferred Qualifications:
• Relevant experience working in an academic library setting
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work effectively under pressure
• Demonstrated commitment to public service; initiative and flexibility
• Strong interpersonal skills; enthusiastic and energetic
• Willingness to work in a collegial environment
• Enjoys the challenge of a dynamic and busy workplace

Compensation:

Salary and Terms of Appointment:
This is a 9 month contract position (limited term contract) to be filled 
at the Librarian I or II level.

We offer a highly attractive compensation and benefits package, with 
salary and appointment level based upon experience and qualifications.
