We have a loose copy of the map – no mention of Federal Writers Program or American Guide Series. Loose map does have your same copyright statement: “Copyright 1938 by State Historical Society of Iowa.” Matches your description and title.
We also have the bound 1938 “Iowa: Guide to the Hawkeye State” which was “sponsored by the State Historical Society of Iowa”. See http://lccn.loc.gov/38027617 for the 1938 LC bibliographic and the Hathi Trust (http://catalog.hathitrust.org/Record/000235067 ) online version.

Thanks to Kate, We now have an image of the title block for NYC. A full scan is not necessary. With the title block I can 1) guess the call number that would have been assigned, and 2) verify we have the correct map if I find something that looks appropriate.
For the curious, the title of the Idaho Map is “Bureau of Highways Map of the State of Idaho Showing State Highways and Connecting Roads.” I found a penciled note on the back tying it to the Federal Writer’s Project when I unencapsulated it.
Still looking to verify whether our 1938 Iowa highway map is the from the FWP book. It is titled “Iowa” and has the copyright statement “copyright 1938 by the State Historical Society of Iowa.” It has a legend in the lower right corner of the map, a “Key to Towns and Cities” and “Points of Interest” The back is blank. U.S. Highways, mounds, and state parks are shown in red. Waterways are blue, and the remainder is in black ink.

We have the map taken from the NYC guide. Street map of Manhattan, City of New York [cartographic material] / Federal Writers' Project W.P.A. Our copies of the map are encased in mylar and near impossible to take a good image of, but I've included images of the titles from the map itself in case that's of use.

We have several Federal Writer’s Project Guides that we are attempting to reunite with the accompanying folding maps. At some point (probably prior to 1992) someone separated the maps from the state guides and put the maps in the map collection.
We were able to identify some of the maps because they have “Federal Writers Project, Works Progress Administration” or something similar printed on them. However, we are still missing 3 of the maps. I’m wondering if they are in our collection, but don’t list the Writer’s Project/Program on the map. For example, we have a road map of IOWA that is the same style and the correct publication year, but is copyrighted by the State Historical Society of Iowa.
If any of you have the maps associated with the below guides, could you provide me with a citation to the map or a photo/scan of the identifying information.
