Hello Jennifer and list,

I worked with a researcher named Anna-Maria Moubayed in Art History and Conservation, who developed a database mapping Romanesque medieval sculpture in churches across Europe. Not sure its relevant since she focused on Eve specifically but imagine that Anna-Maria could be a good person to ask about tracking down saints?

At the following link https://doi.org/10.5683/SP/2Y5C1X - you can find the dataset, field notebooks and a way to contact Anna-Maria the owner of the data. As well as contact information through Concordia University

https://www.concordia.ca/finearts/art-history/faculty.html?fpid=annamaria-moubayed

Best of luck with this!

Cheers,

Francine

Subject: Query: Maps of medieval saints?

Folks, I have received an interesting query that may be a hard order for anyone to fill, but I offered to toss it out to the greater map-using community and see if anyone knows of resources to help this researcher. Note her email; you can reply to her directly.

I am working on a book about saint plays from medieval Europe and late nineteenth-century Europe. The medieval plays are rarely associated with manuscripts, so there is mostly anecdotal and economic evidence of them.

I have a dream that there is a map out there (from any time period) that notes the patron saints of European regions—or a map of festivals related to saints. There is a pretty good wiki page about patron saints of places in general (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patron_saints_of_places<https://can01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fen.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FPatron_saints_of_places&data=05%7C01%7Cfrancine.berish%40QUEENSU.CA%7C116df295bee8435ba9fa08da95952b77%7Cd61ecb3b38b142d582c4efb2838b925c%7C1%7C0%7C637986765286775073%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=solTqdVxEgwUI%2BXY5ftUdVuN9DZqTOZZkJzDe0k0qx8%3D&reserved=0>), but I am hoping to find a map. Any ideas?

Thank you for any help you can give me!!

--Jennifer
