Two explorers of the Map Collection brought in a story about the
Royal Geographical Society that appeared in the Friday, October 29,
1999 "USA Today." The story starts with the RGS Map Curator, Francis
Herbert showing Stanley's pith helmet and Livingstone's cap. The
story, titled "Explorers now searching for funds," covers the holdings,
past glories, and current funding problems of the Society.
