Description:    ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT II #5035
Osher Map Library, Portland Campus, $11.39/hr, Full-time. Under the
direction of the Curator of OML, the Administrative Assistant
participates broadly in the functioning of OML by providing
administrative and clerical support for Osher Map Library operations,
the Curator, Faculty Scholar, Donor, Osher Library Associates, and
visiting scholars. The position controls public access for OML’s
cartographic exhibitions and collections and assists in supporting OML
educational outreach. The position will assist the Cartographic
Associate in providing basic reference service. OML staff are
responsible for a world-class collection and interact not only with
students and faculty of USM, but the scholarly community worldwide.

QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Any combination of education and/or experience
equivalent to successful
completion of two years of undergraduate education and inclusive of
training or experience in the use of computers and software applications
in Word processing, spreadsheets and/or database management. Minimum two
years relevant and successful experience. Demonstrated administrative
assistant skills. Strong multi-tasking abilities and ability to work
effectively with minimum supervision, manage time, and set priorities in
a demanding public service environment. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree
with a major in History, Geography, Fine Arts, or some other discipline
relevant to historical cartography. Minimum of twelve months working
experience in a library, special collection or museum and/or other
experience demonstrating professional integrity and a comprehension of
administrative support, reference services and the curatorial role.
Demonstrated ability to supervise personnel. Experience with automated
library systems.
