*Mapgiving*

Mapgiving is a new organization whose mission is to advance geographic
awareness through maps, for non-profit clients and the people they
serve. Mapgiving helps to identify the cartographic needs of non-profit
groups, and then coordinates with the cartographers that have
pledged/donated their time and talent to create useful, beautiful maps.
This past October, the day before the NACIS annual meeting, 11
cartographers assembled and offered their professional services to the
first Mapgiving client, the Hank Aaron State Trail, of Milwaukee, WI.
This kick-off event was a huge success.  After 12 intense hours of
design and production, two maps were produced, one designed for print
and the other for interactive display on the web. Mapgiving would like
to thank NACIS for it's generous support of the kick-off event. Several
new collaborative projects are in the process of being finalized now. If
